Vision

Build resilient, equitable and sustainable communities where every individual — especially the most vulnerable — has access to quality education, effective protection, optimal health, adequate nutrition, clean water and a healthy environment, while benefiting from digital and local economic opportunities.

Mission

Promote the integral well-being of vulnerable populations by sustainably improving their living conditions through multisectoral actions: nutrition, education, health, drinking water, hygiene, digital and food security, while defending the environment, human rights, socio-economic inclusion and employability of youth and women.

Diverse and strategic intervention areas

COSAWOH’s strength lies in the diversity and complementarity of its areas of action. The organization operates in multiple key sectors to sustainably improve the living conditions of vulnerable populations.

Food Security

COSAWOH supports agriculture, cooperatives, distributes food, and encourages fishing and livestock to reduce hunger and malnutrition.

Education

The NGO works to improve teaching quality, literacy, promote peace and school leadership. It also raises awareness on mine risks, supports family education and provides language training.

Health

COSAWOH builds and equips care facilities, develops mental, reproductive and preventive health programs, and advocates for universal health coverage while valuing traditional medicine.

Digital

In a digitalized society, the NGO trains youth and adults in ICT, web development, cybersecurity, AI, Big Data, cloud computing, IoT, and digital marketing. It also promotes digital education and inclusive e-commerce.

Environment

COSAWOH acts to preserve biodiversity, prevent natural disasters, and protect ecosystems through awareness campaigns and community actions.

Social Protection

The organization fights gender-based violence, protects children, widows, orphans, displaced people, and persons with disabilities. It also provides psychological support and promotes social cohesion and democratic governance.

Economic Recovery & Employability

COSAWOH encourages entrepreneurship, artisan training, navigation, and innovative forms of economic exchange like bartering, with special focus on women’s empowerment.

Nutrition

Programs include clinical and community nutrition, dietary education, and awareness on healthy and sustainable dietary practices.

Water, Hygiene & Sanitation

COSAWOH works for access to clean water and hygiene by installing sanitation infrastructures, promoting wastewater and waste management, and conducting awareness campaigns.

A real impact on the ground

  • Awareness for 2,543 people on Plumpy Nuts overconsumption (Bukavu).
  • Mobilization of 900+ people on women’s rights and empowerment (Bukavu & Kabare).
  • Care for 30+ children with severe malnutrition.
  • Psychosocial support for 250+ people with emotional disorders.
  • Establishment of 5 gender-friendly adolescent clubs and mentoring of 75+ girls.
  • Training 61 youths to make pavers from plastic waste (with RDI).
  • Multisectoral assessments with OCHA (Kadutu, Bagira) & cleanup campaigns (Panzi, Cahi).
  • Meetings with religious leaders on environment & disaster prevention.
  • Health awareness for 600+ people (cholera, monkeypox/M-Pox).
